Fear of the Fire of Hell

The Khalifah of Imam A ḥmad Razā Khān , Faqīh al-AꜤẓam Mawlānā Abū Y ūsuf Muḥammad Sharīf Kotalwī رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ writes in his book Akhlāq al-Ṣāliḥīn: “One righteous elder رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ was so overwhelmed by the fear of Allah Almighty that whenever he lit a lamp, he remembered the fire of Hell and wept.”

In any case, seeing a child become restless out of fear of failing a worldly examination, and then seeing his father tremble with the fear of Allah Almighty after remembering the examination of the Hereafter, is truly full of lessons. Every word, rather every letter of this incident, contains priceless pearls of reflection, and this story invites us all to take heed.

If we reflect honestly, we generally fear worldly accountability, but sadly, we do not fear the accountability of the Hereafter, even though worldly questioning is easy, whereas the questioning in the Hereafter is extremely difficult. Keep in mind that accountability depends entirely upon the will of Allah. He will take account from whomever He wills, and He may admit whomever He wills into Paradise without accountability. However, if accountability is taken, it is a severe matter.

The Wise Father

It is narrated that a man’s young son used to sleep beside him on the same bed. One night, the child became extremely restless and could not fall asleep. The father asked, “Are you feeling pain somewhere?” The child replied, “Dear father! I am not in pain. Actually, tomorrow is Thursday, and every Thursday our teacher gives an exam on all the lessons taught during the week. I have not memorized this week’s lessons properly, and I fear that if I fail to answer correctly, my teacher will become upset with me and punish me.”

Hearing the innocent words of his innocent child, tears filled the father’s eyes. He reflected upon himself and said within his heart, “This child only has to answer for one week’s lessons, yet he is so frightened that he cannot even sleep. But I will have to stand in the court of Allah Almighty on the Day of Judgment and answer for a lifetime of sins. Therefore, I should be far more fearful than him.”

O lovers of the Prophet! Even today, there are righteous people in this world who are reminded of the Hereafter whenever they observe worldly matters. Here is another incident regarding this.

Aankhein Ro Ro Ke Sujaane Waale

Un Ki Mehak Ne Dil Ke Ghunche Khila Diye Hain

Four Evils Inspiring Islamic Speech

Four Evils is a thought-provoking Islamic speech by Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat, Hazrat Allama Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri. This powerful bayan highlights four destructive evils that can damage a person's faith, character, and relationship with Allah Almighty. Through Quranic guidance, blessed Ahadith, and practical examples, the speech explains how sinful habits can negatively affect both individual and social life.

The bayan encourages self-reform, sincere repentance, and adherence to the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It provides valuable lessons on avoiding harmful actions, developing good character, and striving for spiritual excellence. Four Evils serves as an important reminder for Muslims seeking guidance, moral improvement, and success in this world and the Hereafter.

The Excellence of Ṣalāt upon the beloved Prophet ﷺ

A pious person was travelling through a forest when night fell. Formidable beasts were roaming everywhere. He felt afraid, but suddenly remembered this blessed Hadith: “Whoever recites ṣalāt upon me once, Allah sends ten mercies upon him. He recited ṣalāt upon the Prophet and slept in a spot; he spent the entire night in peace, and not a single beast even touched him. Then, (regarding this same Hadith), he said: I recited ṣalāt because ten mercies of Allah descend upon the one who recites it once, and when ten mercies of Allah surround me, what beast would dare to even look towards me.

Dear Islamic brothers! This all depends on the firmness of faith. You observed the firmness of faith of that pious person whereas our state is such that though we are believers, our focus remains more towards outward means. May Allah Almighty make our faith firm as well.
