The recommended method is to stand at the head side of the grave and place soil three times with both hands. The first time, recite:
مِنۡهَا خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ
“We created you from this earth.”
The second time, recite:
وَفِيهَا
نُعِيدُكُمۡ
“And into it We shall return you.”
The third time, recite:
وَمِنۡهَا
نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ
“And from it We shall bring you forth once again.”
After that, the remaining soil may be placed using a shovel or other means.
